6th Annual Paper & Clay

Paper & Clay is a national juried exhibition open to all BFA & MFA printmaking and ceramic students across the country. This year’s exhibition showcases 54 exceptional contemporary student works from 20 various academic institutions. This year’s juror is printmaking artist and University of Minneapolis professor Jenny Schmid.

The reception for the exhibit is on Thursday, Feb 16, from 5 – 7 PM.

Dr. Susan Grayzel presents The Age of the Gas Mask (CHaSS Book Talk)

Dr. Susan Grayzel (History) will present a book talk on her recently published The Age of the Gas Mask: How British Civilians Faced the Terrors of Total War (Cambridge University Press) as part of the CHaSS Book Talk Series. Dr. Grayzel will provide a brief talk and there will be plenty of time for discussion and celebration.

Join Us for an Evening Supporting Our Next Generation of Scientists If you are struggling to name three women scientists, join us to hear the stories of women paths to becoming scientists and getting a close-up look at the work they do at USU. Do you have questions about science careers? Join us for the Q&A event with faculty and graduate students. Mingle in our last session of the day, with hot chocolate and games.

Jazz Night at Elite Hall

Join us for this annual fundraiser for two great causes: The Larry Smith Jazz Scholarship and The Elite Hall Restoration Fund. Throw yourself back to the roaring 20's and experience live music, dinner, and dancing on Utah's only spring-loaded dance floor! Dance lessons included starting at 6:00 pm. Optional dinner catered by The Firehouse Grill is available on Friday and Saturday night.

Science Unwrapped: Computing with Honeybees

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the public outreach program of USU's College of Science. Admission is free. Our Feb. 10 speaker is USU computer scientist Vladimir Kulyukin, who presents "Music, Traffic, Solar Harvests: Computing with Honeybees" at 7 pm in the Emert Auditorium (ESLC 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU Logan campus. Dr. Kulyukin will speak for about half an hour and then invite questions from the audience. Afterwards, enjoy refreshments and hands-on STEM learning activities provided by student and community groups in the ESLC atrium. Feb. 10, 2023 Talk Description: According to USU computer scientist Vladimir Kulyukin, computation can unlock mysteries of honeybee behavior, how the bees' environment affects how they live, along with the "music" of bees' buzzing. Learn now artificial intelligence can transform hives into robots to monitor the health of these important pollinators.

Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic is a parody. This comedy follows the escapades of a group of student wizards who have not been the hero of their own story.

Playwright Matt Cox describes these characters as "Funny, intelligent, silly, heartwarming, a little worn and slightly ignored."

It's time for the "losers" of this magic school to rise!
