Print Journalism (Online)

A handful of students holding camera to their face

Overview

Students studying print journalism at Utah State University learn to write with clarity and precision to build stories that help people understand their communities and the world around them. They learn to enlighten and entertain, dig for details and hunt for humanity, and make every word count.

There are abundant on-campus opportunities for students to study journalism, but they can also choose to earn their degree completely online. This pathway offers flexible opportunities for students who are raising children, maintaining full-time jobs, providing care for family members — or traveling the world.

In Utah State's online journalism program, you’ll learn by doing — studying issues, reporting stories, and producing content that helps people make sense of their world. This program will prepare you to think critically and act professionally. You’ll strengthen your writing, reporting, and multimedia production skills while learning to ethically and effectively tell stories that have the potential to change people’s lives.

The "learning by doing" education you'll receive will ensure you are a competitive candidate for a career in journalism or other professional communication field. Indeed, many of our students are working professionally before they even graduate.
