His research focuses broadly on persuasion and specifically on topics such as political aggression, effective approaches to compliance gaining, deception, nonverbal influence, and persuasion in health and hospitality contexts. His work has been recognized by over ten “Top Paper” awards at both regional and national conferences. His coauthored book,"Persuasion, Social Influence, and Compliance Gaining," soon to be in its 8th edition. He is coauthor of two additional books ("Nonverbal Communication in Political Debates" and "Arguing, Reasoning, and Thinking Well") and co-editor of two others ("Communication in the Classroom: A Collection of G.I.F.T.S." and "Perspectives on Persuasion, Social Influence, and Compliance Gaining").
