<bio>Tatenda Mashanda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Utah State University. A critical rhetorical scholar, he specializes in rhetoric, politics, and culture, as well as global communication. His work spans rhetorical history, theory, and criticism. His research examines how leaders, movements, and citizens use rhetoric to claim authority, build solidarity, and contest power in Africa and around the world. He studies discourses of internationalism, foreign policy rhetoric, and civic engagement. He draws on archives, public memory, and national symbols to understand politics past and present.</bio>
