Tessa Buck

Biography

Tessa Buck, MA, MT-BC has been the Life Enrichment Director at Birch Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care in Smithfield, Utah since March 2022, incorporating music therapy along with a wide variety of other activities to enhance the lives of the residents. She enjoys training music therapy practicum students and interns. In a former life, Tessa studied Linguistics and Russian and earned a masters degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

After many years spent raising her four children, Tessa’s life path took an unexpected turn and she felt a call to explore the world of music therapy. She finished her internship and graduated from Utah State with her music therapy degree in 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic “shut down” the world. She spent the next two years managing the education and mental health of her family.

In March, 2022, the position at Birch Creek came looking for her, and she knew it was the right time to answer the call. Although she enjoys working with many different populations, older adults (especially in hospice and memory care settings) have always held a special place in her heart. She is also passionate about intergenerational programming.
