How to Connect with a CJA
There are two main ways to get connected with a Community Justice Advocate (CJA), depending on what works best for you and where you live.
Connect Through a Local Agency
Most of our CJAs work within community organizations, advocacy groups, counseling centers, or housing programs across Utah.
To get started, look through the directory below to find a CJA in an agency serving your county or region. Once you identify an agency in your area, visit their agency’s website to learn more about the services they offer, how to contact them, and whether you can schedule an appointment directly. Some agencies allow walk-ins, while others may require a referral or an intake process. Contact the agency for more information.
Connect Through Nonprofit Legal Services of Utah (NLSU)
If you don’t see a CJA in your area, or if you prefer a statewide option, you can also request help through Nonprofit Legal Services of Utah (NLSU). Several CJAs volunteer with NLSU to offer free, limited-scope legal assistance to individuals with debt collection throughout Utah.
To request services through NLSU, you can fill out a simple intake form. NLSU will review your information and connect you with a CJA who will assist you.
