High School Theatre Day

Come see our shows for free! We’ll provide free tickets to each of our shows for high school students, teachers, and parents (students do not need to be seniors). Before the show, we’ll give you a brief tour. To secure your free tickets, just visit or call our box office (435-797-8022), and use the code: “High School Theatre Day.”

Open House Fridays

Join us any Friday this school year from 10:30am to 1:00pm to visit classes, tour our department, and audition/interview. To sign up for a Friday visit, please email theatre@usu.edu.

  1. Enter any door of the Fine Arts Center and make your way through the hall to the center of the building where you will find the ramps and the lobby areas.
  2. The Morgan lobby is located on the 2nd floor of the Fine Arts Center, to the left of the Tippets Art Gallery.

Auditions/Interviews

Admittance is a three-part process:

  1. Apply to Utah State University
  2. Apply to Theatre Department (separate application for each area of interest)
  3. Audition/Interview for admittance to area of interest.

*For FULL SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION, please apply to the UNIVERSITY before January 1, 2025. 

Required Application Materials for All Prospective Students

  • A resume listing your theatre experience and a headshot. 
  • An essay summarizing your reasons for wanting to pursue a career in theatre and your career goals.
  • Names and contact information for three (3) references. 

Audition Requirements for Acting

  • 2 contrasting monologues (e.g., one comic, one serious, one classic, one contemporary) no more than 90 seconds each – 3 minutes total. 
  • A minimum of 16 bars from a musical theatre song, not to exceed 1 minute (Singing is encouraged but not required.) 
  • Interview with Performance Faculty 

Interview Requirements for Design/Tech and Theatre Education

  • Design/Tech BFA: A portfolio documenting your design or technical theatre work 
  • Theatre Education BFA: A portfolio documenting creative work with children or in an educational setting 
  • General Studies BA/Minor: Interview only
