Biography

Heidi Willers is an assistant professor of technical communication and rhetoric in the Department of Communication and Media. Her research bridges technical and professional communication, rhetoric, law, and disability studies. She investigates how communicators foster accessible and inclusive workplaces and community spaces through inclusive design, policy, and cross-sector advocacy. She also explores how students and practitioners learn and adapt new technologies to further this work. Her scholarship has appeared in IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Journal of Technical Writing and Communications, SIGDOC, and is forthcoming in the Journal of Business and Technical Communication and edited collections.
