Music in the News

Most college seniors are preparing to enter the workforce this month, but for Elizabeth Johnson, the finish line is just ahead. After completing her coursework this spring, the Utah State University piano performance and pedagogy major will officially graduate next year when she performs her senior recital, the final step in a journey more than two decades in the making.

This spring break, a group of USU music students attended the Metropolitan Opera’s gala opening of Richard Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde” in New York City as part of a Wagnerism seminar taught by Christopher Scheer, associate professor of musicology.

The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art at Utah State University will welcome artist Gregg Deal for a lecture and in-gallery visual and spoken word performance at 5 p.m. Thursday. This performance, in conjunction with the lecture, is free and open to all.
