Biography
Seulgi Park is an assistant professor of communication studies in the Department of Communication and Media. She earned her Ph.D. in Communication from the University at Albany, State University of New York, in 2025. Her research lies at the intersection of health communication and intercultural communication, with a focus on addressing health disparities among immigrant populations. As a mixed-methods researcher, she investigates patient-centered communication for older Korean immigrants in the U.S., using the ecological model of medical encounters as a guiding framework. More broadly, her work explores how social and cultural factors shape interactions between immigrant patients and healthcare providers, with special attention to health literacy and patient engagement. Her research has been published in Health Communication, International Journal of Communication, and Communication Quarterly.
