Biography

Kaitlin E. Phillips researches the interplay between family and personal identity focusing on how people create family identity and solidarity, and the perceptions of difference in relational quality across family members. Her work has been featured in journals such as Journal of Communication, Communication Monographs, Journal of Family Communication, Western Journal of Communication, and Southern Communication Journal. She has won top paper awards at the Central States Communication Association conference and the National Communication Association conference. She also received the University of Nebraska’s Presidential Fellowship. She has served as the Secretary of the CSCA Interpersonal and Small Group Communication Interest Group and she currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the CSCA Interpersonal and Family Communication Interest Group.
