Biography

Dr. Jared Colton is currently serving as the Interim Department Head for the Department of Communication and is a Professor of Technical Communication and Rhetoric. He recently served as the Associate Dean in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2023-2025. His research addresses the intersections of rhetorical theory and ethics within technical communication and related fields, from concerns of pedagogy to digital media. Currently he is researching how classical and contemporary ethical frameworks inform communicating with artificial intelligence and accessibility technologies. He has work published in Rhetoric Review, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, Computers and Composition, and other journals. His co-authored book Rhetoric, Technology, and the Virtues was published with the University Press of Colorado.
