Biography
Colleen O’Neill is Professor of History and former coeditor of the Western Historical Quarterly. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in U.S. history, Native American history, and the history of the American West. Her scholarship focuses on the intersections of labor, gender, and Indigenous history. O’Neill is the author of Working the Navajo Way: Labor and Culture in the Twentieth Century and Waging Sovereignty: Native Americans and the Transformation of Work in the Twentieth Century. She is currently writing about Indigenous workers and race in the New Deal Era and developing a new research project on Progressive Era politics in Arizona.
