USU Students Present at Weaving Our Stories Conference

Instructor Brendan Lee and four USU students presented at the recent Weaving Our Stories Conference at USU's Blanding campus. The title, “The Push for Ethnic Studies at Utah State University, 1968-1975,” was in conjunction with Lee’s HIST 3780 class, History of American Education.

“The students did an incredible job with their research and presentation,” said Lee. “The whole conference was a great experience and I’m glad the students got to show off their hard work.”

The Weaving Our Stories Conference brings together students, faculty, staff and community members to support, celebrate, and productively engage with Native American students and communities throughout the USU system and beyond.

Students involved were Mara Kenison, a history alumnus and employee in the USU Library’s Special Collections, Janneke Remick and Ryann Holdaway, both history majors, and Landon Cook, a biochem student. The group uncovered stories about the history of the Black Student Union and the predecessor of the Native American Student Council.
