How to Apply

Students may apply for scholarships offered through the Department of History, Cultures & Ideas by going to Utah State University's Scholarship Online Application site. This portal enables students apply to all relevant scholarships across the University.

How to Apply

Our department offers scholarships and other financial aid opportunities at department, college and university levels. This page contains some information for scholarships, but unless otherwise stated, the application process must take place on Scholarship Universe. Applicants can find more specific information about the individual scholarships there, as well.

Brett E. Blanch Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to an outstanding junior in philosophy. Student must be an academic major in philosophy, show a minimum of 9 upper division credits toward a philosophy major (taken at USU), and have a 3.5 or higher GPA in the major.
Brett and Josh Chambers Award: Provided by Harris, Preston & Chambers, LLP. Awarded to an outstanding student in philosophy. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and the essay should include how philosophy and the study of ethics apply to their career plans (or life).
Thain Scholarship: Scholarship endowment in memory of Aldyth Thain. Awarded to high school seniors enrolling at USU who have at least a 3.5 GPA. Recipient must matriculate in a philosophy or language course.
Mehdi Heravi Endowed Scholarship for Philosophy: Provided by Mehdi Heravi. Awarded to a student in financial need. Student must be an academic major in philosophy and have a 3.0 or higher GPA in the major.
