Biography

Hi friend! I'm Sylvan. I'm double majoring in Communication Studies and Religious Studies with minors in Chinese and English, but my real passions are philosophizing about peace and writing fiction. One of my favorite poems says to "Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine" (Mary Oliver, "Wild Geese"), an invitation which guides both my Space Making practice and everyday life. I firmly believe that sharing heartfelt emotions—whether in despair, excitement, apathy, wonder, or some combination of it all—is a powerful practice for connecting with oneself and others. As a Space Maker, I hope to offer you the opportunity to share your vulnerability in a place of nonjudgmental acceptance.
