Biography

Damon Cann is Professor in the School of Sciences Department at Utah State University.  He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Political Science from Stony Brook University and a B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University.  His research focuses on themes of elections and representation in American Politics.  His book on congressional campaign finance, Sharing the Wealth, won the 2009 Richard Fenno Prize for the best book on legislative studies and his 2015 book on judicial elections, Voters’ Verdicts (coauthored with Chris Bonneau), won the Virginia Gray book award for the best book on state politics or policy published in the previous 3 years.  An avid supporter of community engagement, Professor Cann served as mayor of North Logan City, a founding board member of the Utah Debate Commission, and a board member with the Utah League of Cities & Towns.
