Biography
My core interests span political sociology, race and ethnicity, political economy, religion, and research methods. I ask questions about social change over time, emergence, and social order and institutions. Across my work, I pursue three lines of inquiry: how interests and values are institutionalized, what catalyzes institutional change, and how this change happens. My work has been supported by the John Templeton Foundation, the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), the Santa Fe Institute, and the UW Stroum Center for Jewish Studies.
At USU, I apply my expertise to teaching and mentoring students on political change and development, social groups, and exclusion and violence. I provide research design and technical consulting for faculty and graduate students within the College of Arts and Sciences.
I enjoy working to improve student experiences and outcomes in higher education, both as an in-classroom educator and as an institutional researcher. I have previously been part of the UW Center for Evaluation and Research for STEM Equity and the Arizona State University Office of Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness.
