Biography
I am a PhD student at Utah State University studying Sociology; my major is Social Inequality, and my minors are Sociology of Gender and Sociology of Religion. My dissertation will focus on research centered on women and leadership within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Additionally, I work part-time as an instructional designer, creating college courses for Ensign College, where I taught Business as an adjunct instructor, and I serve as a member of the Advisory Board for Leadership Academy of Nevada, an online public charter school for grades 6-12 that I co-founded in 2012. Before pursuing my doctorate degree, I worked here at USU in the Huntsman School of Business with the Utah Women & Leadership Project as the Statewide Outreach Manager, a position focused on helping women throughout Utah access resources, understand research, and share their concerns.
As a single, divorced parent, I raised and homeschooled three children in Las Vegas between 2000-2017, where I also co-founded a nonprofit organization, RISE Educational Resource Center (2009). I am passionate about finding and creating ways to educate people and provide resources that will reduce inequality and increase their individual capacity to lead and function within an equal, fair, and just society.
