Synopsis
In an effort to expand Utah State University’s Department of Theatre Arts’ engagement with contemporary plays, we produce a Play Reading Series. The series offers students and audiences a chance to explore vital new plays written in the last 10 years in a format of a “reading” that celebrates the text. Each play is presented as a script-in-hand reading — lightly rehearsed, immediate, and focused on the language, ideas, and performances rather than full production elements. Each reading offers audiences a chance to experience exceptional modern writing in a simplified format. This reading consists of 4 student-selected, student-directed, and student-acted plays.
Our next play reading will be on March 20-21, 2026, directed by Dr. Jayne Gold.
