Undergraduate Sophomores Juniors Need-Based

Support for students with a declared major in Political Science with financial need who are not receiving financial support through any other scholarship or grant. GPA between 3.25-3.75. Applicants shall be Sophmore or Junior.

Anne Michelle & Roberts Fayer Memorial Scholarship

Undergraduate Graduate

Used to support students in the Social Work Department who have a full-time credit load and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Calvin R. and Janet E. Maurer Fellowship

Graduate

Students pursuing an advanced degree in Sociology who demonstrate outstanding professional promise. Awarded on merit rather than financial need.

Cynthia Farr Bylund Scholarship

Undergraduate Graduate

For students majoring in Political Science, International Studies, or Law & Constitutional Studies. Grade point average is not the main criteria for selection, but candidates must demonstrate determination to succeed in their profession and contribute to society.

David M. Heiner Memorial Scholarship

Undergraduate Need-Based

Financial need-based scholarship to benefit undergraduate students who have demonstrated a great interest in the study of Political Science or have an intention of pursuing a career in public service. Preference will be given to students who have the greatest financial need.

Dr. Nazih Al-Rashid Scholarship

Graduate Need-Based

Graduate students in the School of Social Sciences with minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6 with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students from underrepresented populations or first generation college students.

Earl A. and Carmen D. Fredrickson Research Assistantship

Graduate

For graduate students enrolled or have applied to become enrolled in the Sociology Graduate Program. Must demonstrate quality academic achievement. Preference for students with an interest in gender research.

Furlong Excellence in Politics and Government Endowed Scholarship

Undergraduate Graduate

Student majoring in Political Science or International Studies, and can be used towards tuition or an internship. In order to be considered for this schoalrship, a student must have a 3.5 GPA and have taken at least four political science courses. Preference is given to students who represent diversity and are members of Pi Sigma Alpha.

John S. & Unita Welch Pre-Law Scholarship

Undergraduate Seniors Need-Based

Open to Law and Constitutional Studies seniors who plan to attend law school. Recipients are chosen for academic excellence, character, legal aptitude, and dedication to public service; financial need is secondary.

For full-time Sociology graduate students (Master’s or PhD).

Kendall Peterson Andrews Memorial Scholarship

Undergraduate Need-Based

For undergraduate Political Science or History majors with a 2.5–3.5 GPA, financial need, and no other scholarship support. Applicants should show recent involvement in a compassionate service organization. Preference is given to History majors who work at least part-time.

For enrolled PhD students in Sociology who have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and demonstrate financial need.

Chosen by the Institute of Political Economy 1) legislative interns from Cache Valley for legislators from Cache Valley 2) Students for legislators from Cache Valley 3) Students as interns for members of legislative leadership.

Nathan D. Alder Pre-Law Scholarship

Undergraduate Sophomore

Applicant must answer "Do you plan to attend Law School, and if so, what is your top choice? Shall be Sophmores, Juniors, or Seniors with any degree within the college, preference to students in their Junior year. Must be full-time and have cumulative GPA of 3.85 or higher.

Upper division students in the college with general aptitude, as determined by grades.

Cost of attendance for Juniors or Seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must be majoring in Political Science Teaching, Law and Constitutional Studies, International Studies, or Political Science.

Graduate students in the Sociology Program. Enrolled in the M.S., M.S.S., or Ph.D. programs. They must declare a career interest in international development.

Stanley C Hatch Rescue Grant

Undergraduate Need-Based

Students in the Political Science with the most financial need. Preference to third-fourth year students. Preference for top 25% in terms of academic achievement. Preference for students planning to enroll in graduate school, law school, or enter the U.S. Government Service.
