Theatre Education - BFA

The B.F.A. in Theatre Education prepares students to pursue careers as professional theatre educators. Alumni work with high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and professional arts organizations throughout the country. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive licensure from the Utah State Board of Education in secondary education with an endorsement in theatre (grades K-12). The theatre education program emphasizes practical experience working with young people from the beginning of students’ studies and offers a small, supportive learning community and individual mentorship. Students receive thorough training in all aspects of theatre pedagogy, theatre for young audiences, and applied theatre.

Once we’ve received both your USU referral and your supporting materials, we may reach out to you to schedule an audition/interview (as appropriate for the area of study). 

Please note that, due to the high volume of applications, we cannot interview/audition every applicant. If you are selected for an audition/interview, we will reach out to schedule with you, though it may not be for several weeks after you’ve submitted all of your materials for review. We will also reach out to let you know if your application is declined or the program is full.

Selected department financial aid awards are available as applications are received. This application automatically gives you consideration for departmental financial aid. If departmental financial aid is offered, you will be notified in your acceptance letter. All out of state students should apply for residency for future financial aid consideration and tuition reduction. All other scholarships are administered through Award Spring, a platform utilized by USU.

All students receiving financial aid should apply for residency their first year.
