Meet Jose Huerta-Borjas!

I never really thought I’d be involved with theater in any way. I started out with operating the sound and light board along with the fly system in my high school’s auditorium for rentals and school assemblies.

Then my theatre director came up to me and asked if I could run mics and sound for his upcoming production, “110* in the Shade”. I decided to give it a shot to see how I’d like it. I did not regret my decision.

It was so amazing seeing how a show would come to life from daily rehearsals to opening night. I continued being the sound operator for my school’s theater department throughout my senior year. I made a lot of new friends. They, along with my theater director, made me feel like I was part of their program despite not taking nay theater classes. After having that experience, I immediately knew that this was something I wanted to keep on doing.

After graduation, I would like to work in any sound position for any local or regional theater company. I would also like to teach the next generation of sound technicians or anyone who’s interested in studying theater.”

Fun Fact: “My nickname in high school was ‘Juice Box‘.
