Biography
Dr. Rose-Dougherty teaches courses in English education, including English Language Arts (ELA) teaching methods, teaching literature, and research methods. Her scholarship explores how teacher candidates communicate with one another about central topics in their reading and teaching experiences. Within this work, she focuses on critical literacy, critical pedagogy, and cultural sustainability. Her writing's theoretical orientation and her own teaching philosophy position teachers and students as co-investigators pursuing meaningful problems in the field of education. She is passionate about fostering learning spaces where questions, criticality, and challenges are essential to her own growth and that of her students. She has published in venues such as Whiteness and Education, The Teacher Educator, and the Journal of Curriculum & Pedagogy.
Dr. Rose-Dougherty is available to serve on graduate thesis committees pursuing topics related to secondary education or preservice/in-service teacher education, and she is enthusiastic about research/writing collaborations in these areas, as well.
