Graduate Student Travel Funding

The English Department is invested in helping graduate students participate in the professional conversation in their respective fields. To that end, the English Department has funds available to support students who are presenting at conferences. Please note the following.

  1. English graduate students are required to apply for matching funds from the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), CANRI, the Office of Research, or elsewhere in order to be eligible for English Department travel funds. However, they do not need to receive SGS funds in order to be eligible—only to apply.
  2. Graduate student travelers are eligible for funds if they are presenting a paper or participating materially at a conference in a related way, such as participating in a roundtable.
  3. ENGL Masters students are eligible for up to a total of $500.00 in departmental travel grant during the course of their degree.
  4. Requests must be made at least two months in advance of travel.
  5. To apply, email the Department Head with (1) a summary of their conference presentation, (2) a list of matches applied to, and (3) the requested funding amount.

Please see the DGS if you have any questions.
