Sigma Tau Delta Far West Leaders Start Literary Magazine

English Department students and Sigma Tau Delta Far West Leaders, Kaylee Jo Stocks and Zach Brady, created a literary magazine called Intraminutia open for Sigma Tau Delta Far West students and alumni to submit to.
Together, Zach and Kaylee Jo represent the sixty chapters of the Far West Region of Sigma Tau Delta. Over the summer, Kaylee Jo, Zach, and Associate Professor Michaelann Nelson, the advisor for the USU Statewide chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, brainstormed different ideas for what the region could work on in the coming months. Kaylee Jo suggested the magazine, and the three got to work on it. She says, “Since then, we have been working to make it a staple of the Far Western Region Student Leaders' responsibilities. We really just want students to have more publishing opportunities.”
“Intraminutia” is Latin for “within the details.” Kaylee Jo reflects, “We wanted our magazine to focus on small details that are often overlooked yet make being alive such a wonderful and meaningful experience.” When coming up with the name for the piece, Zach and Kaylee Jo talked to Lecturer Robb Kunz, product manager of Sink Hollow, the undergraduate journal run out of USU. They felt inspired by the sentiment behind Sink Hollow and wanted to create something similar for Intraminutia. “We thought its Latin name combined with its authentic and broad scope made it a perfect fit for Sigma Tau Delta's Far Western journal,” Zach says.
Kaylee Jo and Zach are both excited to see how the magazine grows. “As we establish the framework for the journal, we are excited to see how it will scale over the next few years. Our hope is that by creating a branding that resonates with many, the sentiment behind the journal will be what motivates engagement and propels it throughout the years,” Zach comments.
The two invite Sigma Tau Delta Far West members or alumni to be a part of the historic first edition. Kaylee Jo says, “It is such a great opportunity to get your work published. As a new magazine, we likely won't be getting as many submissions as more prominent magazines. Your chances of having your work accepted are fairly high compared to these literary magazines.”
