The College of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to supporting faculty in their pursuit of excellence. ArtSci maintains several ongoing mechanisms to support faculty success in research, creative endeavors, teaching, and extension.

Support Mechanisms

C.A.R.E. Award

The C.A.R.E. Award can provide faculty up to $1500 in support of their area of excellence, including the dissemination of research, teaching, and creative work. Faculty are eligible to apply for one C.A.R.E. Award per year. Funds are limited and competitive.

Catalyst Grant

The Catalyst Grant can provide faculty grants of up to $20,000 to help cultivate their innovative research/creative/teaching activities that are likely to attract external funding through federal agencies, private foundations, legislative avenues, or industry partnerships. Funds are limited and competitive.

Publication and Performance Subvention Fund

The ArtSci Publication and Performance Subvention Fund provides up to $2000 in subvention funding for publication and artistic works that necessitate extraordinary funding. Faculty are eligible for subvention funds once every 3 fiscal years.

Open Access Fees

ArtSci only covers open access fees in rare circumstances in which the target audience are non-academic and would not have access to institutional databases. Very limited funding is available each year.

Emma Eccles Jones College of Education & College of Arts and Sciences Grant Academy Program

CEHS and ArtSci have teamed up for a Grant Academy to provide select faculty members the opportunity to engage in a yearlong grant training program. Applications open in the summer for the following academic year.

Other Support Needs?

Should you have needs that do not fit within the five internal mechanisms listed above, you should speak first with your Department Head to see what departmental contributions may be available. The Dean’s Office considers proposals to partner with departments and other units for larger-scale funding on a case-by-case basis.
