Internships Turn Arts & Science Degrees Into Professions
Internships are short-term work experiences that give you the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields. Employers value academic excellence and relevant work experience, meaning that students who complete internships build the skills and experience that lead to higher-paying jobs after graduation. Internships pay off later, even if they don’t pay as much right now.
Develop Resume-Ready Skills
Internships give you the chance to apply your strengths professionally, including communication, creativity, cultural literacy, problem-solving, attention to detail, and more.
Make Connections That Matter
Internships open doors that hourly jobs usually can’t.
Work Toward a Job Offer
Increase your chances by 70% of obtaining a job offer from your internship employer.
Gain Clarity
Internships help you figure out what you actually do (and don’t) enjoy before you commit to a career.
Get the Best of Both Worlds
Many internships are part-time, remote, or short-term. You can participate in an internship while working another job or completing coursework.
My work at Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been one of the most meaningful professional experiences of my academic career. This job was my first experience with technical writing outside of the basics in my courses, and I could not have asked for a better experience.
So much has changed in the course of a year, and now, with one semester remaining, I have the opportunity to leave Utah State as a respected sports journalist with a strong and impressive portfolio.
