Biology Teaching Greenhouse

About the Tour
The Biology Teaching Greenhouse is a student-centered living laboratory supporting undergraduate and graduate instruction, research, and discovery. Through diverse living plant collections, terrariums, sustainable growing practices, and collaborative approaches to teaching and research, the greenhouse provides hands-on learning experiences for thousands of students each year.

Cadaver Lab

About the Workshop
The USU Cadaver Lab offers a unique and somewhat unusual glimpse of campus study. In addition to high school students, the club welcomes health care professionals-in-training, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, certified nursing assistants, medical assistants and yoga instructors, to view the lab’s human bodies donated for learning and research.

Insect Tours

About the Tour
USU Insect Tours was initiated by the USU Insect Collection with the Oh Wow! Collection in 1998 as an effort to connect local communities in Cache Valley with the wonderful world of insects and arthropods. The program is operated by university students and faculty volunteers who are passionate about science education and outreach.

The Intermountain Herbarium houses over 290,000 specimens, primarily consisting of vascular plants. Well-made plant collections last for hundreds of years when curated in collections like the Intermountain Herbarium and form an invaluable bank of data for future research, education, and conservation activities.

Observatory Public Viewing

About the Observatory
Astronomy enthusiasts of all ages are invited to view the night sky through the USU Observatory telescope. Admission is free.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please check the observatory website prior to arrival on the public night, as the gathering will be cancelled in the event of cloudy or inclement weather. The website also provides directions, parking information, and when the next public viewing will take place.

About the Program
Launching this initiative with the English and Mathematics & Statistics departments, the College of Arts & Sciences at USU offers opportunities for secondary school faculty to co-teach a session and make higher education more accessible to their students.
Information on how to set up classroom visits will be available by mid-August, so you can make a request for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic school year.

Established in 2009, Science Unwrapped, hosts free monthly gatherings featuring a brief science lecture, followed by hands-on learning activities and refreshments. Bringing War Home Project

Established through a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant and support from university and community partners, the Bringing War Home Project explores the experiences and legacies of armed conflict through personal objects and stories. Community members, veterans, military families, and civilians are invited to share meaningful artifacts that preserve individual memories and connect personal experiences to the broader history of war.
