Joe Kinzer

Biography

Joe Kinzer is an ethnomusicologist and faculty member at Utah State University, where he serves as Community & Oral History Archivist and Curator of the Fife Folklore Archives. He holds a PhD in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington. His teaching and research explore music as cultural practice, with particular attention to performance, oral tradition, fieldwork, and the ways music expresses histories of community and place. He has studied and performed musical traditions from Southeast Asia and the Middle East and brings an ethnographic and comparative perspective to his work with students.
