Biography
Kelly Olsen is the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (BTSALP) Instructional Coach for the Cache County School District. She supports both the Music and Visual Arts Educators in 19 elementary schools throughout the valley.
Kelly earned her B.S. in Parks and Recreation from USU before marrying her husband, Chris, and raising five children, 2 boys and 3 girls. As a young mother, she taught piano, guitar and ukulele lessons from her home before working for 8 years as a Music Specialist at Birch Creek, Greenville and Summit Elementaries. Mrs. Olsen later graduated with a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Westminster University in 2024. Upon securing her Professional Teaching License and K-12 Music Endorsement, she worked for two years as a BTS Music Educator at North Park Elementary.
In addition to completing her MAT, Kelly has completed her American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA) Levels Training and is passionate about helping elementary music educators learn how to use this engaging methodology with their students. She is a board member of the Utah AOSA Chapter (UAOSA) and has attended multiple National AOSA Conferences and UMEA conferences. She is currently pursuing Mentoring and Instructional Coaching Endorsements with the Utah State Board of Education.
She volunteers in her community performing as a church organist in her congregation, the Music Chair for the annual Smithfield City Storybook Festival, a Youth Council Advisor and as a member of the Smithfield Youth Theatre Board.
