Biography

Cellist Emily Taylor graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Cello Performance, and earned her Master’s degree in Cello Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her teachers include award-winning cellists Anne Francis Bayless, David Requiro, Matthew Zalkind, and Alice Yoo. She has studied chamber music with members of internationally-acclaimed string quartets such as the Fry Street Quartet and the Takács Quartet, and has performed in masterclasses for cellists Paul Katz, Brian Hodges, and Gal Faganel.

Emily has loved playing cello since she was first introduced to the instrument, and is passionate about both teaching and performing. Emily has been teaching cello for nearly a decade and is currently a cello faculty associate at the College of Arts and Sciences at Utah State University. She is a Suzuki certified teacher and enjoys teaching students of all ages. In addition to teaching and performing, Emily has developed a passion for researching music-related topics. Her research has been largely focused on performance psychology and injury prevention in string musicians, and she aspires to one day become a musicians’ health expert so she can help her students and other musicians reach their musical potential. Emily currently resides in Logan, Utah with her husband and enjoys spending her free time exploring the outdoors, trying out new recipes, reading, and sketching.
