USU Bands

Bands are a vital part of the Department of Music and the campus life at Utah State University. The Aggie Marching Band and Pep Band make an exciting contribution to USU Athletics, while the Wind Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Cache Wind Symphony perform the finest in wind and percussion literature year-round. In addition, our outstanding Jazz Bands perform the best in new and classic jazz literature.

Although many members of the bands are Music majors, members of USU Bands represent every academic unit on campus. Whatever your major area of study, professional aspirations, time allotments, or taste in musical style, there's a band for you at USU!

Concert Bands

Wind Orchestra - MUSC 4700 (Audition Required)

Fall Semester

Rehearsals are select Mondays, all Wednesdays and non-Marching Band Fridays at 2:30-4:00pm. Auditions will take place the first week of classes. Audition music and instructions will be posted on the band bulletin board outside room 113 FAC in mid-August.

Spring Semester

Rehearsals are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30-4:00pm. Auditions will take place the first day of classes, and interested students should contact the instructor the previous December before exam week begins. Audition music and instructions will be posted on the band bulletin board outside room 113 FAC during exam week.

Symphonic Band - MUSC 3790 (Non-Auditioned)

Fall Semester

Rehearsals are Mondays at 2:30-4:00pm. Part placements will be determined during the first rehearsals.

Spring Semester

Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30pm. Part placements will be determined during the first rehearsals.

Cache Wind Symphony - MUSC 3795 (Instructor Permission Required)

Rehearsals are Thursdays at 6:30-8:15pm. The Cache Wind Symphony meets in conjunction with the Cache Community Band. Interested students should contact the instructor at the beginning of the semester in which they would like to participate.

Marching Band

Aggie Marching Band - MUSC 3785 (Audition Required for Drumline & Color Guard, Non-Auditioned for Woodwinds and Brass)

Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00-4:30pm and Fridays before performances at 2:30-4:00pm. 

Jazz Bands

Jazz Orchestra - MUSC 3770 (Audition Required)

Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, & Friday at 12:30-1:20pm. Auditions will take place the first week of classes and are typically sight-reading based.

Jazz Ensemble - MUSC 3760 (Audition Required)

Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, & Friday at 1:30-2:20pm. Auditions will take place the first week of classes and are typically sight-reading based.

Small Ensembles and Private Lessons

Numerous small ensembles, jazz combo, and private lessons opportunities are available. Contact the Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion faculty or Jazz Studies faculty directly for more information.
