Tri-State Band Symposium & Conducting Conference

General Information

Directors are invited to nominate their most deserving students. Directors will be notified of those selected by November 1, 2026. There is no limit to the number of students Directors can nominate.

The Symposium will accept as many students as possible, with principal consideration to a balanced instrumentation to ensure the finest experience for students in attendance.

Directors receive a first-come, first-served invitation to participate in the live conducting portions of the events. Participant slots are limited.

Dress

Concert attire/uniform work for school band concerts

Format of the Symposium

Students

• Rehearsals and sectionals with the finest wind and percussion clinicians in the Mountainwest
• Performance of the finest literature for winds and percussion under world-class conductors

Directors

• In-service credit for professional development
• Band director clinics including such topics as literature selection, rehearsal techniques, and gestures of conducting

Housing for the Symposium

To allow freedom of choice, overnight housing is arranged by individuals (visit the Explore Logan/Cache Valley Visitors Bureau website for options). Utah State University is not responsible for students when not in attendance at a Symposium event.
