Karen Petty
- Basic Level 2
Karen Petty has been teaching Elementary Music and Movement for 40+ years. She currently teaches General Music Kindergarten - 5th grade plus Chorus and Recorder Consort at Gold Rush Elementary School in Parker, Colorado. In addition, she teaches adults in various summer Orff Teacher Training programs. Education: BME University of Northern Colorado 1981; Orff Certification 1989 UNC; Masters in Education, Curriculum & Instruction – Creative Arts in Learning Lesley College 1996. Karen is currently serving as Treasurer of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association; formerly she served as Recording Secretary and Regional Representative. She is the past president of both the Rocky Mountain and the New York City chapters of AOSA and has presented at 8 AOSA national conferences and for many schools and Orff chapters. Karen recently published Mostly Modal with Movement and More - a collection of 21 original pieces for Orff ensemble - with Beatin' Path Publications.
Leslie Timmons
- Recorder
Leslie Timmons is Director of Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Courses in the College of Arts & Sciences, Utah State University. She is Professor Emerita in the Music Department where she taught the flute studio and music education. She is Orff specialist with the Cache Children's Choir. After completing degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance, she received a Fulbright grant to do post-graduate work at the Orff Institute Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. She was a founding member of the Utah Chapter of AOSA and has served as Artist-in-Residence for Utah Arts Council and on the national boards of the American Recorder Society and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. She was local chair for the AOSA professional conference in Salt Lake City, November 2019. Leslie has been honored with Utah Music Educators Association's "Utah Outstanding Music Educator” and “Elementary Educator of the Year” and was inducted into the UMEA Hall of Fame in 2022.
Dan Gullick
- Basic Level 1
Dan Gullick teaches kindergarten through fifth grade music at Liberty Ridge Elementary, part of ISD 833, in Woodbury, Minnesota. He directs a fourth and fifth grade choir and founded an Orff ensemble at his school. He holds a BA in music from Luther College and an MA in music education with an emphasis in Orff Schulwerk from the University of St. Thomas. He is the department leader for elementary music teachers in ISD 833 for which he develops and presents professional development. He has taught Orff Level 1 basic pedagogy at North Dakota State University, Lakeland University, and Portland Orff as well as presented workshops around the country. Dan is a past president of Minnesota Orff, was a member of the National Board of Trustees for the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) as a regional Trustee, is the current Recording Secretary for AOSA, and is an AOSA approved teacher educator.
Anna Marie Spallina
- Movement
Anna Marie Spallina has taught general music PK-5th grade in several NYC private and public schools. She received her Orff certification from New England Conservatory and has attended additional courses in Salzburg and Assisi, Italy. She teaches movement and recorder in various teacher training courses and presents chapter and conference sessions.
