Biography
Maureen Boyle (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Utah State University. In 2021, she received a PhD in Anthropology from Indiana University with a concentration in Archaeology and Social Context and a minor in History and Philosophy of Science. In 2024, Maureen earned a Master of Social Work from Utah State University. She views the problems and questions of social work research through an interdisciplinary lens and sees meaningful connections between the anthropological perspective and the social justice aims and community-engaged methods of social work. Maureen’s community-engaged research focuses on understanding the health and social support service needs of LGBTQ+ youth and families in northern Utah. She is a lead facilitator for the Bear River Region LGBTQ+ Community Initiative at the USU Transforming Communities Institute in partnership with the Logan Pride Foundation. Maureen currently serves as an editor for the Transforming Communities Journal at USU.
