Biography

Veronica has a passion for teaching, helping students meet their goals, and continuing to innovate social work education to meet the evolving social landscape. She has taught in higher education for a total of 11 years at the BSW and MSW level and her teaching is informed by 16 years of practice. Veronica completed her Ph.D. at the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University with a focus on clinical practice with trans and gender expansive clients in rural areas. She received her MSW at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her classroom experience started as an adjunct professor at Appalachian State University in 2013. Since 2021 she has held the role of a Clinical Assistant Professor at Boise State University and the University of Utah. Veronica is excited to merge research, teaching, and practice as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, here at Utah State University.

In addition to her social work education, Veronica also has a Master of Divinity degree, which she uses in research, teaching, and advocacy to support the ethical integration of religion and spirituality in social work practice. Beyond work, Veronica is an avid outdoor and sports enthusiast (Logan is a perfect place for this). She is also a parent to 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 special needs cats (CH), and 1 feral cat that has decided to adopt this crew. The combination of physical and intellectual activities (and the fur babies) keeps her in balance for the important work of teaching and scholarship.
