Admission Checklist for Bachelor of Science or Arts in Social Work (BSW)

The application process offers applicants an opportunity to demonstrate readiness for the expectations of social work education and practice. An applicant's ability to follow directions, submit complete materials (including the required resume), communicate appropriately, and meet deadlines reflects professional skills such as accountability, organization, attention to detail, and responsiveness to expectations. This is NOT the BSW Application
This is a checklist to help you prepare to apply for the BSW program at USU. This is not the application. The application window opens opens January 1 and closes March 1 for fall semester start and opens August 1 and closes September 30 for spring semester start.

Before beginning the application, please prepare the following:

  1. Verify you have met the admission requirements as outlined in the general catalog.
  2. Identify your preferred campus from the available options:
    • Blanding
    • Brigham City
    • Logan (Main Campus)
    • Moab
    • Nephi
    • Price
    • Tooele
    • Roosevelt/Vernal
  3. Prepare an updated resume using the provided template. Using this template is required for the application process.
  4. Transfer Students Only: Prepared unofficial transcripts and compiled contact details for an academic reference.
  5. Confirm that you have fulfilled admission requirements:
    • Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
    • Minimum 2.75 GPA in social work classes
    • Completion of SW 1010 with B- or better
    • Completion of SW 2100 with B- or better
    • Completion of SW 2400 with B- or better
    • Two BSS courses of the student’s choosing 3 credits each (6 credits total) with C or better
    • Completion of BIO 1010 (BLS) or ANTH 1020 (BLS) with C or better
    • Completion of ENGL 1010 (CL1) with C or better
    • Completion of ENGL 2010 (CL2) with C or better
    • Completion of any Quantitative Literacy (QL) course (STAT 1040 or STAT 1045 preferred) with C- or better
    • Current USU Students Only: Understand how and plan to take APT during finals week of the semester prior to beginning the program after successful completion of pre-program courses and admission to the program.
