Biography

Bruce L. Duerden has been an Professor and Lighting Designer/Technical Director for Utah State Theatre for the past sixteen years. Completed a BA and MFA from Brigham Young University where he was lighting designer and technical director for the music department for 10 years. He then spent 2 years teaching for Texas A&M University where he worked for the Texas and Utah Shakespeare Festivals. During his tenure at USU he has designed, and technical directed numerous productions for Utah State Theatre and other professional theatre in Wyoming, New York, Hawaii and California. His most recent work includes, Lighting and Scenic Design for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, BYU-Hawaii, Producer / TD and Lighting Design for Nunsense, Chaps, and Music Man for the Pink Garter Theatre in Jackson Hole Wyoming, Technical Direction and Lighting Design for Aida Army Community Theatre Honolulu Hawaii. He is a Member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and has been the Utah Design Coordinator for Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for nine years.
