Theatre Arts Program

This application process has two steps:

  • Step 1: Apply to Utah State University
  • Step 2: Submit supplemental application materials to the Department

Follow the steps outlined below to complete both parts of the application process.

Apply to Utah State University

Before you begin your application to our department, please begin your USU Application. The university provides a comprehensive admissions website that offers detailed information on applying, housing, financial aid, and other aspects of student life at Utah State.

USU Application Requirements AT-A-GLANCE

  • Application fee (waived for Utah residents)
  • High School transcript
  • Concurrent enrollment transcripts

Minimum Academic Requirements

  • 2.5 high school GPA or 550 GED [unweighted GPA]
  • 17 ACT or 820 SAT (does not include the written portion)
  • 90 minimum Admissions Index score

Incoming Freshmen

To be considered for university financial aid, USU applications must be submitted before the Financial Aid Deadline for the specific semester.

All Prospective Students

  • We accept applications year-round, but we suggest you apply by December 1 for full academic scholarship consideration, given the competitive nature of acceptance.
  • The USU Department of Theatre Arts requires a minimum GPA of 2.75 (3.0 for BFA Theatre Education), which is higher than the standard USU admission.

Submit Supporting Application Materials

Each area requires the following:

  • Your resume listing your relevant experience (e.g., theatre, working with young students, etc.)
  • A short essay summarizing your reasons for wanting to pursue this degree (e.g., career aspirations and goals, etc.)

Any additional requirements are listed with the degree.

Acceptance into the Department is competitive and not guaranteed.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Selected department financial aid awards are available as applications are received. This application automatically gives you consideration for departmental financial aid. Some scholarship are not available for alternate semester starts. If departmental financial aid is offered, you will be notified in your acceptance letter. All out of state students should apply for residency for future financial aid consideration and tuition reduction. All other scholarships are administered through Award Spring, the platform utilized by USU.

All students receiving financial aid should apply for residency their first year.
