Translation & Interpretation Programs

Add a layer of professionalism to your language skills

Why Translation and Interpretation

Get started on your journey to a career in medical translation at Utah State University. A promising career with growing need in the Intermountain West and nationally.

This program is the first step towards a national certification with the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) or the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI). Participants will gain practical experience through real-world scenarios, interactive exercises, and case studies.

Academic & Technical Training
USU's academically-backed program combines faculty expertise with robust training designed to prepare participants for well-paid careers in a high-demand field.

Program faculty have experience in medical interpretation in addition to translation for legal and academic settings. Students are supported through hands-on learning and the opportunity to practice real-world scenarios while they gain valuable training and learn to utilize their language skills in professional settings.

A Growing Program
USU's program is dedicated to addressing the critical shortage of trained interpreters in social service and healthcare settings in Utah. Trained interpreters play a crucial role in ensuring individuals with diverse language backgrounds have access to essential health care services.

Students earn more than a certificate. They gain practical skills to meet the needs of our community. Access to high-quality medical interpretation is not only essential for individuals who need it but is also legally mandated. Without a qualified interpreter, people's lives can be at risk. Positively impact the lives of others and enjoy a career in a growing field.
