Artist's Statement

This painting depicts each of the 5 great extinctions and suggests that we are heading towards a 6th. This 6th great extinction, different than its predecessors, would not be caused by natural phenomenons but rather by humans. The evidence shows that Earth is headed for disaster and that humans need to make drastic changes to avoid it. Drastic changes will be hard and may seem impossible but what is the alternative? David Suzuki once said, “If we pollute the air, water and soil that keep us alive and well, that allows natural systems to function, no amount of money will save us.” We need to change our ways- not later when it is too late, but right now.
