Forest Gaurdians

For this past year, I have been working towards building my illustration, animation, and storyboard techniques. From learning in this class, I knew that for my first ever animation I wanted to make a statement. I came to this conclusion after reading about my favorite animals, the red pandas. I learned that red pandas are endangered and there less than 2,000 in the world left. This is due to deforestation, climate change, and even poachers. With this in mind I came up with my own story to explain this. This project will mostly likely take up to a year or so to finish. What I am showing is the start of this story. 

The story is based on a red panda named Miko who is going through his daily life, when the unexpected happens. He runs into monsters, who look like dead trees that want to hunt him down. When getting hunted Miko ends up getting hurt and loses the monsters. After getting severely hurt Miko lays down by a tree when another monster appears. However, this monster is different and gentle. The monster picks up Miko and takes him to its lair. When Miko wakes up he notices the monster has changed into a human girl. The story would then carry on with this human girl and Miko working together to help Miko’s environment and the world. 

The files I have uploaded is the story where Miko runs into the monsters. I also have uploaded the first animation on the red panda walk cycle as well as the title posters of my story. This story will be called “Forest Guardians” after learning and reading about the work efforts from people living in Bhutan and Myanmar with the red pandas.
