Artist's Statement

How the earth came into existence is much more than a miracle to me because so many things had to fall specifically into place. As humans, we get the opportunity to live upon earth’s vibrant surface and use its abundant resources. However, there is a cost to using what is graciously provided. We must be wise, as there are many living creatures that also inhabit this earth along with us. The stewardship we have in keeping the environment healthy is going to take innovation, consideration, and determination while we establish standards and policies that benefit all living creatures while still protecting the beautiful earth we live on.

What Side of the Fence?

Was it accidental?
Having meteorites colliding to earth,
with crystallized material?
Ice and dust conglomerations birthed
pools of water; rivers, streams, and ocean.
With photosynthesis, self-assembly and self-replication,
all systems were set into cycled motion.
Now there’s blocked radiation, oxygenation, and established habitation.
Resistance introduced metabolism and expenditure of energy.
Yet colder temperatures simply weren’t as complimentary.
Life was actually in jeopardy.
Existence seemed to be an extinction documentary.
Without the greenhouse gases,
it wouldn’t have been safe for the masses.
Still, it’s all situational,
too much CO-2 destroys our “presence” miracle.
How are we going to make it right?
It all keeps me up at night.
Consumerism, pollution, deforestation, and the great acceleration,
And other things that require some serious termination.
We now have to change our ways—and fast!
The sustainable limit has been surpassed.
Consult the climate change blueprint—
the big hint is in the global footprint.
And what this all means;
is that marines must be cleaned,
and environments deserve to be vibrantly green.
Systematically, it needs to be viable, so everything in life is more reliable.
This type of sustainability will require a whole new scene,
where the world’s inhabitants can all safely convene.
