Humans of the Anthropocene
Over the past several decades, public discussion surrounding climate change has steadily increased. For my project, I wanted to take a closer look at how well the information regarding climate change is being communicated to individuals around me. To do this, I sat down with approximately 40 individuals of various ages and talked to them about their general thoughts and opinions regarding climate change. This process gave each individual a chance to reflect on what they know about climate change while expressing their attitudes about this topic. This process allowed me to assess what information individuals in my community are receiving regarding climate change and how that information has influenced their attitudes and actions surrounding it. Inspired by the Humans of New York photoblog, I created an online booklet that includes a picture of each individual I spoke with, along with a summary of their thoughts. I also included my thoughts and attitudes regarding climate change. The book illustrates individuals’ general attitudes and knowledge about climate change as well as how individuals’ knowledge and opinions regarding climate change differ across generations.
