Doomsday
Doomsday – this is supposed to be my story in understanding and discovering the severity of our situation as a planet in the context of climate change. We talked at length not only about the situation we’re in but why we’re here currently and a lot of that context and information has helped me understand my place in this situation. I'm a metal head at heart, so I thought a dark, raging smasher would be the best way for me to express my thoughts on the subject. It was designed with 3 distinct sections: 1) Acknowledging where we’re at and what is happening 2) Coming to accept personal effort and change 3) A smash at the end to depict the foretold should we do nothing about it. I tried to nail the looming danger aspect in my sound design, it’s got some callouts in it (metal wouldn’t be metal without some callouts...) and while I am well aware this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I hope some headbangers out there have some fun listening to it.
Lyrics
I think, if it were up to you, you’d ignite the oceans,
For the worlds, forgiving embrace, you lack all devotion
I think, if it were up to you, you’d black out the sky
And scorch this earth from top to bottom, just to level out, your insatiable pride
I can’t begin to describe the point of our failure, our home ablaze, engulfed in the haze of the best of human nature
I can’t begin to describe the depth of the lies and the compromise to exist and persist without opening my fucking eyes
This is Karma
We take away the life that colors our vision
We reap from above and below and spare none the decision
Death
Is this the world that we had imagined for our children
A wasteland of trash and oil and “popular opinion”
I think, if it were up to you, you’d ignite the oceans,
Welcome to Doomsday
I think, if it were up to you, you’d black out the sky
Welcome to Doomsday
Welcome to Doomsday
Welcome to Doomsday
We gotta figure it out
You got a chance to give back to what you’re made of, You got a chance to change
open wide and be the storm that makes the ground shake, for the sake of your own longevity
You got a chance to give back to what you’re made of, you got a chance abstain
From abhorrent mutilation of your own salvation, the world that you need to breathe.
Welcome to Doomsday
Welcome to Doomsday
Welcome to Doomsday
