Artist's Statement

I wanted to create a piece about the harm that human impact has on wildlife. The reason I chose to represent this as an x-ray is because often we pretend like this is a problem that is noteasily visible when in fact, if you just look around it never takes more than one minute to find a piece of litter on the street, plastic in your house, or think of a time when you watched somebody else harm the environment. Often we look at wildlife as a beautiful and interesting part of our world and yet, they are being impacted so much by something that they have no control over. We no longer should be looking at them as a beautiful specimen to study, but we should be analyzing the damage we've done. This is why the first pass of the X-ray shows our typical interest in wildlife and the second pass reminds us of our impact in wildlife.

For this piece I created individual frames that were then lined on top of each other to create ananimation.
