Artist's Statement

For my project, I wanted to use my artistic ability to draw important figures we have learned about throughout this class. I believe the best place to begin when discussing the Anthropocene is with the people who have contributed to the conversation. Of the many people we discussed and learned about, I chose Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Will Allen, Kate Raworth, Joel Salatin, Sunita Narain, Leonardo DiCaprio, and James Balog. The people listed range from politicians and economists to local farmers and activists because, for a better world, we need action taken by everyone. In choosing who to include, I went through the readings and documentaries and chose those who I thought were both known and unknown. I cropped them out of the images I found, digitally collaged them, and drew them.
