Artist's Statement

As a photographer, It is my job to capture the feeling and emotion of my clients. This project challenged me to do the same thing within nature. I decided to create 3 different collages of my photography work. The first one depicts depressing real-life scenes that I stumbled across within nature. I was appalled by how easy it was to find garbage in almost every tree and bush within half a mile of my apartment. I like to think of these images as a reality check for those who can’t acknowledge the truth of how humans are degrading the planet. The second collage contains images I took visiting my home in Arizona. I think the desert is beautiful and the love I have for it motivates me to make the necessary changes to protect it and keep it that way. The final collage demonstrates how we share the earth. Many times, it can feel as though we are the center of the world, but in reality, we are a part of a MUCH bigger picture.
