Ignorance
My project consists of a photo of my two friends taken by me at a hot springs near Fillmore, Utah. I used images from the web to photoshop the factory smokestacks and pipe.
This picture represents many people’s responses to the unfolding environmental catastrophe. In the background, smoke stacks line the sky. They are small, making the humans in the middle seem large. The size of the humans relative to the smoke stacks represents how large of an impact humans have on our natural world. The characters in the image are trying to ignore what is going on behind them, one character has his eyes closed while the other covers his face with his hand. However, the pipes spewing dirty waste from the factory into the pool they are in shows that even if we try to hide from what is going on, the effects will still reach us. The environmental devastation will be felt by all unless we take quick and bold action.
